Mechanics of Housing Market

Just in...Market is stablizing!

NAR(National Association of Realtors) 1st quarter data show that 14 states and the District of Columbia actually had sales rates higher than a year ago while the 4th quarter report had only 6 states noting positive trends. Who'd have thunk that??

Over all sales were down 6.6% from 1st Qtr 2006 but were 2.4% above the 4th quarter of 2006.

Breakdown by Region:
Total Units in Thousands

1st Qtr 2006 1st Qtr 2007

Total U.S. 6863 6413

Northeast 1120 1133 YEAH!!!

Midwest 1587 1490

South 2703 2507

West 1453 1280

Of the 145 metropolitan statistical areas, 82 metro areas had price increases from one year ago, 11 had double digit gains and62 had price declines. Only one was unchanged.

Can you tell it depends where you live???
