St. Patrick Day Sweets

Top of the Mornin' to Ya!!!

Though I will never be confused for an Irishman, I love to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with all my Irish friends.  Who hasn't had a green beer....do they really do that in Ireland???  Or is it another American invention...guess I will have to ask.

Yet whatever way you plan to celebrate St. Patrick's Day on Tuesday, March 17th, you no doubt will be celebrate by eating!
I do realize for home good Catholics that Lent and giving up some delectable items could find this post tough to swallow.

I respect anyone's desire to forego for a closer walk with God.  But I do know someone of you took up an extra act of charity in respect to the Lenten season.  Thus, you will find the Irish Sweet and St. Patrick Day menus a true delight.

Shepherd's Pie or a good Beef Barley soup will go well with your green beer of choice.

Please drink and celebrate safely.  Don't want St. Patrick disappointed do we boys???

Spring will come eventually....Landscape Plans

Winter has really hung on in given parts of the U.S.  Ask Boston or Chicago if winter has been tough.  You will hear quite the story of bitter days and snowy nights(and days).  Boston has been inundated with just tons of snow(translated into feet by someone).

As far as I am concern, when the snow is so deep you can't find your car for thirty days or that ice chunks large enough to crush the hood of car are crashing from roof tops, it is hard to believe is Spring can come fast enough.

Even southern areas like Atlanta and Miami have seen record cold.
Hampton Roads has been shut down(as you may well know) by snow fall for the past two weeks.   With the 7th largest snow total at 17 inched, February was tough an anyone looking forward to Spring.

In fact, those of us with Crepe Myrtles are to trim low and bad branches in February, prior to the juices of Spring start filling the dormant branches.  But where was there a decent day??  March will be here and it will just happen then.

Yet, with Spring comes new plans to landscape the unruly or to trim and tuck the sculptured yard.   If you are still seeking some input, here is a great article on texture in your landscape.  Better Homes & Gardens is a great resource!!

Better Homes and Gardens to the rescue: Get Rid of Home Hassles

Gosh!! Do I love how this article starts:  Get Rid of Home's Hassles

Then it has Never, Never Never in the first three bullet points under the topic line.  You would hope that one's spouse or parents were thinking of them when the word "Never" and the line "Get Rid of Home's Hassles" were in play.

Seriously, living hassle free is every one's dream!!  So why wouldn't we want to hear some suggestions how.

And the nevers are good nevers!!!   Hate losing my keys and wondering where they are at!  Probably it is most frustrating as it very very seldom happens but doesn't fail to happen when I am running late.

So read and make your life Hassle Free!!

Healthy Desserts??? Yeah! They are!

Healthy Desserts
at Long Last

Hey, I am totally fine with all the articles and recipes on Better Home & Garden's website, Recipes.com, Allrecipes.com and the rest regarding healthy eating.

Why not eat healthy?  Unless I need to drop 40 lbs, healthy eating is eating in moderation.  Oh yes, the diet must accentuate good for you vegetable and fruits and a lot less process food. Yet it doesn't mean the new lifestyle will be pure drudgery.

Frankly all these recipe sites, Pinterest, Facebook provide lots of healthy eating tips for each meal and snacks.

Yet the one low spot is the "healthy dessert".  Oh there are some "healthy desserts" but most compare to a Snickers like a gravel road to a concrete highway.  Yes, cars can go over a gravel road but do 60 like on the highway and see if you still have a suspension or are on the road after 5 miles.

And so it always has been with "healthy desserts", good to try but tough to imagine eating long term.

But if I take Better Homes & Garden at their word, these desserts are healthy for us.   As I looked through the desserts, they all looked like they would be quite good.  Now if they only are really healthy!

Take a look, make a few and let me know:  delicious and healthy???

Cold Weather Recipes - Festival of Flavors

Festival of Flavors

After a long holiday season, sumptous recipes for the family or if empty nesters, for you to share, can be a welcomed find.

We all know the parties are over and we must get back to the day to day of regular life.  Yet, why not eat well with some special recipes that are good enough to serve your guest???

You have time to try a few new dishes to see how they strike your palate.   I would doubt, unless you have a give food allergy or adversion to a given ingredient, that any of these 5 recipes will cause your stomach to do anything but growl loudly!!!

I am just lucky I ate or I know my stomach would be growling for the Crab and Brie Mac & Cheese. Oh YUM!

Review all the recipes and print one or more that really make you hungry!! Or perhaps your family or spouse may really like...I know there can be foods others like that we might not!!!

Enjoy a flavorful 2015!
